A large percentage of the population are doing just that. We see that especially true in the case of 401(k) accounts. It’s not uncommon to hear someone say,
“I haven’t looked at my 401(k) account(s) in years.”
Without someone actually watching (and acting on) your portfolio on your behalf, you are leaving your investment returns (translation = future lifestyle or retirement security) to chance.
Just as investment advisors are required to “know the client” you, the client, should also know your advisor. Are they actually managing your portfolio or merely “allocating” (outsourcing) your portfolio to other management platforms (I.e. mutual funds, etc)?
