If you purchase a previously owned home and there have been appliances replaced by the seller prior to the sale for which there are associated warranties, contact the providers of those warranties immediately to see if there is a requirement to "transfer" that warranty to you. I have actually experienced this myself whereby a new (five year old) A/C unit had been purchased by the seller of a home I purchased. When the A/C unit went out (6 months after I purchased the house) I contacted the manufacturer who told me that I had 30 days from the date of purchasing the house to transfer the 10 year warranty (along with a $25 transfer fee). My realtor did not tell me to do this. Lesson learned.
