We have found that many people have simply ignored their 401(k) and other company retirement account

While there are periods of time when that might work in your favor, understanding what you are invested in within your accounts would be a really good idea. When we review a clients' company retirement accounts with them, they are sometimes shocked at how "out of line" their portfolio is with current trends or their own investment risk tolerance. We recommend gathering up all your 401(k) and other retirement account statements and getting an independent opinion on how they are invested and what changes, if any, you would like to make.
